Helpful Tips - Branding Head
A branding head is a detachable die, made of brass or stainless steel. It connects to either a handle or an electric branding iron and function as a heated stamp for permanently marking logos, names and decorative designs on products made of many different materials.

Helpful Tips - Material
Materials that can be marked with a branding head include (not limited to) wood, leather, plastic, rubber, cork, straw, dense foam, candle wax, soap, Plexiglas and some food items. When material quality and texture varies, such as plastics and leather, BIU highly recommends that samples be provided to us so that we can “test-brand” those samples and make our recommendations accordingly.
Branding Heads can be made of many metals. The two most widely used types are the Multi-Purpose Brass (woodworking, leather craft, plastic marking, etc.) and the Stainless Steel branding heads for marking food products.

Branding Food Products
Branding heads made of Stainless Steel are designed specifically for food preparation and is the safest food branding method currently on the market. The IPPC Pallet Branding Iron
Branding Irons Unlimited can create a branding head to display your IPPC (International Plant Protection Convention) / ISPM 15 export compliance logo on pallets or other shipping crates (See Picture at Left). BIU now offers the Propane Branding Iron along side a custom IPPC branding head, all in a convenient package. The IPPC Pallet Brander brings convenience and quality to the pallet industry.

Clear Branded Marks
The branding head face features a custom engraved image that is raised 3/32”. The 3/32” relief ensures an accurate detail transfer of the image and prevents background marks.High Durability
A branding head with a ½” square face or smaller is 5/8” thick. Head faces with larger dimensions are ¾” thick unless otherwise specified. The thickness of the heads guarantee durability and long life. Overall image dimensions can range from 1/32” to 19” X 29”.Flat, Concave or Convex
Heads can be produced for marking flat or curved surfaces. When a curved surface needs to be marked, heads can be made concave or convex, CNC produced for a precise radial match.

The brass branding head can be used to mark many different kinds of materials: Wood, plastics, leather, suede, rubber, cork, bamboo & straw, dense foam, soap, wax, plexiglas and heavy card stock just to name a few. Temperature Control Units
A Temperature Control Unit is always recommended for best image transfer as it helps achieve branded marks with the desired degree of darkness.Using a temperature control unit will also prolong the life of the branding iron heating element.
